I’m Shelby Becker, RD, and founder of EmpoweRD Eating Nutrition Counseling. I work with burnt-out professionals, neurodivergent minds, and LGBTQ+ folks to help them rewrite their relationship with food without diets, shame, or impossible rules. My practice is rooted in weight-inclusive, anti-diet care that meets you where you are and centers your lived experience.

Here’s the truth: Your body isn’t broken. The system is. I didn’t become a dietitian to police your plate. I became one to help you build trust with your body and unlearn the toxic messages that have kept you stuck. We’ve been sold the lie that health only looks one way—or that shrinking yourself is the highest form of discipline. My job isn’t to “fix” you. It’s to support your healing, help you reconnect with your body’s wisdom, and walk beside you as you nourish yourself in ways that actually feel good physically, mentally, and emotionally.

My internship at the West Los Angeles VA taught me the power of compassionate, patient-centered care and meeting people where they are and helping them build sustainable habits that fit their lives.

With 3+ years working across all levels of care, from intensive treatment to outpatient support, I’ve helped clients navigate:

  • Mental health challenges (anxiety, ADHD, and more)
  • The messy intersection of food, emotions, and wellbeing

RD (Registered Dietitian): As a Registered Dietitian, I have extensive training including advanced coursework in biochemistry, medical nutrition therapy, and over 1,200 supervised clinical hours, plus successful completion of a rigorous national exam. This ensures my nutrition guidance is rooted firmly in science and clinical expertise, not fleeting diet trends. You can verify my credentials here.
