Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I accept health insurance from Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, HealthNet and United Healthcare. You will have to verify with your insurance whether they cover nutrition counseling services. I am happy to provide you with a script for that discussion with your insurance. You may still need to provide a copay for sessions, and that rate will need to be confirmed with your insurance representatives.
How much do your sessions cost?
Initial nutrition consultation
- $150 | 60 min
- This is a supportive, non-judgmental space to share your story. Together, we’ll explore your relationship with food, your medical and mental health history, and how your identity and lived experiences shape your eating patterns. We’ll identify what’s getting in the way of nourishment and create a collaborative plan that centers your goals.
Follow-up nutrition session
- $125 | 45 min
- These sessions offer ongoing, personalized support. We’ll build sustainable practices using gentle nutrition, eating disorder recovery tools, and burnout-friendly strategies that meet you where you are. You’ll gain insight, flexibility, and skills that align with your real life.
Where do we meet?
Virtually on the HIPAA compliant website Simple Practice. I will email you a link to set up an account prior to our first session. If you want support navigating that website, feel free to contact me.

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN), and how are we different from nutritionists?
A Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a food and nutrition expert who has completed:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in nutrition (ACEND-accredited program)
- 1,200+ hours of supervised clinical training
- A rigorous national exam (CDR)
- Ongoing continuing education (CPEUs)
In many states dietitians are licensed, meaning we are held to state-regulated standards (unlike “nutritionist” titles, which often have no oversight). We also can be specialized, which helps me provide you with uniquely tailored care. I was trained in medical nutrition therapy (MNT) to treat conditions like eating disorders, diabetes, and GI issues.
Key Difference: While all RDs are nutritionists, not all nutritionists are RDs. Many “nutritionists” lack clinical training or licensure, especially in states without title protection; As an RD specializing in eating disorders and mental health, I bring evidence-based care you can trust.
What is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS)?
Later this year I will fulfill my requirements to be a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), which is an credential awarded by the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP).
To earn this certification, clinicians must complete:
- 2,500+ hours of direct eating disorder treatment
- 24+ hours of specialized supervision with a CEDS-approved supervisor
- Rigorous testing on evidence-based therapies (CBT, HAES®, FBT, etc.)
- Training in treating anorexia, bulimia, BED, ARFID, and OSFED
